This weekend we drove up to the see the old Sutro Baths ruins -which span a good section of the San Francisco coast. This place has a beautiful and melancholic history. We hiked all through the ruins, venturing into some of the tunnels Adolf Sutro designed and constructed. The stillness of this place is what's most chilling, the tunnels and old pool ruins look like something from the Roman era. I felt a stilling awe, knowing I was visiting the graveyard of something that was once so majestic.
I opted for something easy to hike in as the terrain is extremely rugged and unstable. My mothers old leather hiking boots seemed to do just the trick.
How crazy is this picture? I've never seen something like this in real life! That heart in the middle of the rock just added to the magic of this place!
